The Committee calls upon Member States and the donor parties to contribute to ISESCO Fund for the Preservation of Iraqi Cultural Heritage and to cooperate together and coordinate their efforts with a view to countering illicit traffic of Iraqi archaeological antiquities and assisting in the restoration of found items to the Iraqi museums.

  • The Conference applauded ISESCO's initiative to establish a committee of Muslim experts that would help to restore and maintain destroyed Iraqi monuments, and to formulate a practicable plan for direct intervention in Iraq in coordination with Member States and competent bodies of the Iraqi transitional government and other international stakeholders. It called on Member States and donors to contribute to the ISESCO Fund for the Preservation of Iraqi Heritage, to coordinate efforts in order to counter the trafficking and smuggling of Iraqi antiquities, and to help return found items to Iraqi museums.

  • Extends sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its financial support of US$100,000 to ISESCO as contribution to the reactivation of Iraqi cultural institutions and welcomes ISESCO's initiative set up a committee of Muslim experts to contribute to the restoration and maintenance of destroyed archaeological sites, and to prepare a practical programme for its involvement in Iraq in coordination with Member States and in cooperation with the competent authorities of the Transitional Governing Council of Iraq and other international actors. The Commission calls for contribution to the ISESCO Fund for the Preservation of Iraqi Cultural Heritage and for close cooperation to control smuggling of Iraqi artifacts and ensure restoration of despoiled objects to Iraqi museums.
